Greg’s Update:

Fails:

  • Update the campaigns for our discovery call process as well as our new customer onboarding
  • I want to create a customer tips/recommendation campaign that sends at least one recommendation on how they can use the service and things we can do for them. I have plenty of content but need to get that started.

Results:

  • Month to Date Revenue –
      • One Time: $6,749
      • EMRR: $11,082
      • Total MR: $17,831
    • 1 new customer
    • 1 Funnel Strategy & Mapping Session
  • 4 discovery calls
  • 1 Launch call
  • 1 potential partner call
  • 5 customer strategy sessions
  • Went to the nuggets game and watched the nuggets beat the Warriors! While also getting to see Steph Curry make some amazing plays
  • 1 blog post live
  • I started to write personalied emails/videos to my network of contacts to let them know about System.ly and if there is a way we can support them or if they may know somoene who may need help.
  • I reviewed the outline of our membership area with Lisa and begin making a list of the video tutorials we’ll need to create and also set a launch deadline.
    • Feeling good about the layout of this site and will be spending some time this weekend mapping it out a bit more, finding a theme and getting ready to kick that project into the next gear
    • We’ve identified what version 1 will be and what needs to be in phase 2
  • Put together a job description for our next hire and started circulating that and even have 2 initial hire calls today

Plans:

  • Update the campaigns for our discovery call process as well as our new customer onboarding
  • I want to start a customer tips/recommendation campaign that sends at least one recommendation on how they can use the service and things we can do for them. I have plenty of content but need to get that started.
  • Continue to interview people for our team while finalizing the 30 day trial experience. I need to put a document together that explains that plan.
  • I want to purchase and install the membership theme will be using for the members area as we’ve identified what version 1 will look like for our customers. I also want to sent a launch date for early bird members to join the membership only.
  • Update our Procedures manual
    • I had a call with Dan Martell who is an amazing entrepreneur and he gave me a sneak peak into his procedure process and it had a lot of similarities to ours but there was one organization tactic that I found interesting which I’ll be adopting which I think will help our team navigate our procedures a bit better.
  • 1 more blog post live
  • 3 discovery calls
  • 1 strategy session
  • 1 launch call from the EW partnership
  • NEW PODCAST INTRO COMING SOON

Justin’s Update:

Fails:

  • FAIL – Finish up writing some of the blog posts I started when I flew out of town for SaaSFest last month. I want to get one ready for justinmcgill.net and I think the other 3 or so will all be guest blogs somewhere.
  • WIN – We’re behind where I thought we’d be after this first week according to the goals I set, which we will be going into in a couple of weeks. I was thinking our per user pricing would be in effect though and we’d be a week away from launching v2 so this definitely is changing the plans a little bit. Going to have to look closer at our sales process as well as I have not been reviewing demo calls.
  • WIN – I’m going to also want to review our content promotion plans that Michael is working on to make sure we’re maximizing things on that end as well.

Results:

  • $8.3k MRR software revenue. Had two of our, what we call at the moment, large team plans cancel which were $300 each. One said it was just for one month anyway and the other said it is a month to month thing and he plans on coming back when he needs more. Neither of these that canceled are in our target market of sales managers/teams though so I am not too worried about it.
  • For the better part of a couple of weeks I had been feeling in a bit of a funk. But I just realized it is because of where we are at with the product and how I’m feeling at a standstill until we get version 2 rolled out. It wasn’t until Wednesday when I really started to come out of it. I came out of it by listening to more podcasts and reading more which inspired me to start planning for all the marketing activities I want to implement post version 2. I had it on my task list to “launch affiliate program” in February, but really I need to start planning for that stuff now.
  • Spent a lot of time this week just mapping out different growth strategies when it comes to affiliate marketing, a specific process and method for content curation, how to best connect and offer value to sales influencers, and a lot more. I’m sure I’ll be going over all this in more detail as we move forward and I start rolling some of these things out.
  • Had a call with that VC Company that had contacted me. The guy did a really good job of just putting me at ease right out of the gate by answering the phone with “Yea Justin! What’s going on man?” Versus something like a “Yes Mr. McGill – how are you?” It was just a natural conversation where we got to know more about each other. For those curious, some of the specific questions I had were:
    • How did you find me?
    • What attracted you to LeadFuze?
    • What is your average ticket size?
    • What are the expectations (looking for an exit in five years or what kind of time frame?)
    • What level of control were they after?
  • They are only going to be investing in about 5 companies this year so they really are taking the time to find the right fits. Something I found really interesting was that he said four of the five top investments they have made have all been people with an agency background and now have a software product. Not too surprised to hear that actually, but reassuring nonetheless.
  • We had a blog post go live on the Pipedrive blog that referenced us. After they sent out an email blast about it, it drove 28 software signups the first day and 23 the next.

Plans:

  • I am co-hosting a webinar with Outreach for a local incubator called Tallwave on Wednesday. So hopefully that goes well. http://tallwave.com/webinar-1/
  • Start planning out our affiliate marketing strategy. Have a list of about 20 people who have contacted me directly about being an affiliate. In addition my sales guy is telling me he has a few that have brought it up on his calls also. I think I’d like to get an expert on affiliate marketing and joint Ventures on the show one of these days soon.
  • Launch our new per user pricing format after four weeks of work as it coincides with version 2.
