Greg’s Update:

Fails:

  • I did not Coordinate a 15 min meeting with all clients however, I’m getting that going today.
  • I did not Finalize the workshop sales page as of yet but it’s on my cal to finish today/tomorrow and i’m about 85-90% done with that.

Results:

  • System.ly Revenue –
    • MR: $30,940 November
  • Sent an email to list about scheduling funnel discovery and have since received about 5 appointments, 1 of which is looking like it will turn into at least another package
  • I did a half day funnel mapping strategy session with a client that came to the office which was super fun and I realized that a lot of my strength is in person, hence the workshops I’ll be doing next year but it made me realize an area of my genius that I need to tap into more as it relates to our packaging as it really drives me…and it resulted in a really awesome testimonial that I have to edit.
    • Drainers/Drivers
  • I had one prospect that got intro’d to me that actually works down the road come visit the office for a sales meeting and I think that will result in business…most likely a full day strategy session prior to funnel development.
  • I did another facebook live on tagging but the wifi at the office went down right during my recap but I’m really loving doing them so I’m going to invest in one of those Mevo cameras
  • All the campaigns we were working are now complete including Funnel To Close, Application To Close and Consult To Close
    • The team really came together to get this done and made my portion very minimal
  • I had the team pull list of all people that ever scheduled consult and next week I’ll be emailing them to see if there any opportunities.
  • I met with the team at Bench to learn more about their services and have another call with them later today as well as another potential bookkeeper that focuses on profit first methodology
  • I got my new macbook pro and it’s awesome. I’ve had no desire to connect to my external monitors either with this 15” screen. So I may consider selling one ,we’ll see. Gonna give it another week
  • I met with Lisa for our new recurring management meeting and we reviewed the agenda for the annual team meeting which is happening on the 12th and 13th of the month.
  • Website updates are all fully pushed live.
  • On the personal side:
    • I had to tour a day care center near our house to get setup for an application as that shiz is crazy with 1-2 year waits so we’ll have to figure out our post maternity leave situation for having someone help us.
    • I put my old macbook on craigslist and will be putting my old iphone 6 plus on craigslist as well
    • Went to the nuggets game on Friday night (they are horrible)
    • I had the EO Holiday party which was a lot of un

Plans:

  • Finish workshop sales page
  • Finish reading Who
  • Connect it to an application in Wufoo which means I need to create that
  • Email list and block time next week to start hitting people one on one on facebook.
  • Email all those that have ever requested a consult and check-in and see if there is an opportunity.
  • I currently have 5 discovery sessions with prospects
  • I’ll be walking our Active Campaign beta client through his funnel setup on Tuesday
  • Edit the half day testimonial
  • Dinner tonight and Thursday with some local entrepreneurs
  • And I’ve blocked a bunch of time on my cal for just me to get shit done that I want to work on so I can’t be interrupted and nobody can book my time. We’ll see how that goes.

Justin’s Update:

Fails:

  • I want to review our marketing funnel and really figure out a good offer for a one-time offer that we can use so we can better leverage webinars and have a more consistent marketing funnel.
    • I did this and we have plans for the one-time offer now. However, I didn’t get a chance to review the entire marketing funnel like I thought I was going to.

Results:

  • LeadFuze software revenue is $29.8k MRR.
  • Cyber Monday deal went live and we had a few conversions to annual plans. We actually lost about $400 in MRR when we had a couple current customers upgrade to take advantage of the annual savings. We added about $5k in upfront annual cash in total. We ended up processing over $40k last month.
    • We had one payment fail on the high end plan that didn’t end up responding to my follow-ups.
    • We had a few people that thought they could sign up for annual and not pay anything for four months, but you know how that goes.
    • In any case, we’ll be running some more end of year specials on annual deals with it being presented as a tax write-off. They won’t get the email copywriting service, but we may look at offering more leads perhaps.
  • Tuesday I spent a lot of time mocking up a change to the front end of the website that we’ll be making. It will help us to attract more links because it actually makes the home page super useful while getting visitors right into our new sales funnel.
    • The sales funnel I also mocked up and got that to our designer.
  • Spent time on Wednesday mocking up a more intuitive Billing section for the app as well as Email Reports. These mockups certainly take a lot of creative juices. I’ve had success working on them first thing in the morning, versus later in the day.
  • Spent a lot of time this week mapping out more of the 2017 marketing assets that we’ll be creating and am super pumped as these things are major game changers for us.
  • With that in mind, I mapped out my own task list over the next couple of months. I wanted to try and block off entire days for a rather large project we’re working on which is a monster sales course. Damian and I are going to be tag teaming this and we want to have it done in January.
    • A lot of our marketing efforts for 2017 are actually going to revolve around this course as we’ll be breaking off components of it as blog posts and guest blogs, as well as driving some ads to it later in the year.
    • Not to mention, it’s a nice thing to be able to offer since one of our core values is education.
  • I also put some time into sharpening the growth hacking blade. Reading up on a few hacks for Quora and ProductHunt that I think could do very well for us. Now I need to block some time off to run some of these campaigns to see what comes of it.
  • So many ideas for growth, yet limited time to dive into them all. I can’t wait until we bring on our marketer to join forces with me on a lot of the ideas I have mapped out. I need to really just focus on content efforts as this has the biggest long term impact. It’s easy to get side tracked with different ideas, but some of them are worth pursuing. You just have to balance the time it takes to implement with the expected result.
  • Sent our investor email update this week. Would be better when you’re seeing more significant growth month over month compared to where we’ve been the last few months… ironically since the investors came on. That’s always stressful for me. I know the investors don’t care so much about what happens now compared to a few years from now. In fact, they’ve been great and helpful, but it’s definitely an added weight for me personally knowing we should be in a little better spot than we are revenue wise.
  • I have the lease in hand, but there were a few bullet points I wanted to get tweaked so I sent that back to them and am awaiting the final draft.
  • I moved forward with a loan as well to put more cash in the coffers. We’re going to be running negative the first half of 2017 with the new team members we’ll be adding. I am hoping to raise another $100k from investors as well, but I want to wait until we have a better story to tell from a revenue perspective.
  • Lastly, this is really just more of a rant. But I’ve noticed that with the whole “customer success” movement, people have gotten a lot more brazen about the way they submit support tickets.
    • Usually, out of the gate with some sort of demand and just a general overall “dick’ish” attitude.
    • Like one guy submitted 3 support tickets on Sunday. The first two were about 15 minutes apart and then 4 hours later, still on Sunday, sends another one saying “How have you not responded to me yet?”
      • I wanted to just flat out cancel this guy’s account.
    • This type of tone might get you the result your looking for in some cases, but I can tell you… I will call your ass out on it and flat out let you know I do not want you as a customer.
      • Our team members are way more important to me than you and I will not have them be berated because somehow you think you’re owed something.
    • People that have this “holier than thou” approach to our support desk will be getting responded to last, and then potentially depending on the tone, just be told we are not a good fit for one another.
    • So if you have people talking to you or your team like that, don’t be afraid to put them in their place. They most likely aren’t going to tweet it out or share it, because they know they’re in the wrong and a simple screenshot of the communication they’ve had with you can back that up.
      • Just because you want to provide excellent customer support, doesn’t mean you have to take someone’s bullshit. That customer isn’t worth the stress and negativity. “Ain’t nobody got time for that.”

Plans:

  • I want to work with our designer to finalize the designs on the mockups from this week.
  • Our lead engineer will be back to work this week and so we’ll be heavily focused improving the server architecture. Luckily, nothing that will cause issues with users, but will help us to scale and should bring down some of our Amazon bill.
  • Going to start work on our monster course. I have specific days just entirely blocked off to dive into this full throttle. I mentioned earlier I need to focus on content, and this is the main project for the next couple months.
  • Short week for me as I am leaving for Vegas on Thursday with a couple buddies. We usually take the trip in March, but we’re going to do it this next weekend instead as my buddy is a big Duke fan and they are playing UNLV. We’re going to a concert on Thursday night to see Blink 182 and Jimmy Eat World as well.
