Greg’s Update:

Fails:

  • Didn’t write this week
  • Didn’t finish all the campaigns I wanted to finish building
    • Onboarding/discovery campaigns (after talks with the team we shifted strategies a bit which derailed that progress)

Results:

  • Month to Date Revenue
    • Feb One Time: $0
    • EMRR: $15,880
  • Been at Traffic and Conversion which was overall a great event.
  • Great, high caliber people.
  • Some great sessions and keynotes
    • Gary Vee
    • Verne Harnish
    • The Digital Marketer management team
  • All effort (outside of the event) was on managing team and client expectations this week.
  • I did research web chat tools and am between PureChat and Intercom’s Acquire product (not sure which direction I’ll go there)
  • The team did a great job in our migration to TW Projects and Desk and has taken the wheel on that.
  • We have one new customer starting on Monday which is the bump in revenue but we ended relationships with 2 others that came on originally at our lower price point.

Plans:

  • Keeping it limited and focused this week
  • New client onboarding call
  • Update our Onboarding experience
    • Recording a few videos and finalizing that campaign in our Infusionsoft app.
  • Prepare/work on my slides for my ICON presentation

Justin’s Update:

Fails:

  • FAIL – Go through the Advanced Marketing Course – Just didn’t set aside time to start going through this yet.
  • FAIL – Do not yet have the html/css of our website designs finished
  • FAIL – Could not start converting html/css to the WP theme, but I do have another freelancer lined up to do this. I should be able to get this started Tuesday
  • FAIL – Did not complete the webinar, but I did spend time putting a lot of notes together on how it should be.
  • FAIL – Did not start the affiliate program piece. This has been re-prioritized to shortly after v2 launch.

Results:

  • $9k MRR for the software
  • You know a book is good when you are thinking about the next time you get a chance to read more. I started reading the book The Sales Development Playbook and this book had that effect for me.
    • It goes through how to create a sales team, compensation, hiring, training, retaining, and more.
    • Worth the read for anyone considering building out a sales team.
  • Also read Growth Hackers Guide to the Galaxy. I wouldn’t recommend this though unless you are brand new to the growth hacking term. It was just super basic. I always enjoy reading different growth hacking articles as it usually will at least get my wheels spinning and I end up with some good strategies to implement. Not this time though with this book.
  • Set a launch date for version 2. It will be going live publicly on Feb 29th!
    • Always tough making these things public in advance, but this holds us accountable and sets a firm deadline to get things done.
  • Went through more logo iterations and finally landed on one that was universally liked. Excited to have this knocked out which helps complete all the different designs we’ve been working on.
  • Met Kyle Martin from our Insiders group on Tuesday. Turns out he lives about 5 minutes from me. He told me about a cool little coffee shop that’s two miles from my house that I didn’t even know about.
    • I actually worked there at the coffee house Wednesday and Kyle showed up there as well.
    • I focused on getting all my notes together for my webinar while I was there. I had been putting it off for a couple of days so I wanted to just focus on this.
  • Worked on backend – with our new developer.
    • We are accounting for a sales process that is broken up with BDR’s who will qualify leads, AE’s who will do the closing, and customer success who will manage the accounts when they get closed.
    • Heavy emphasis on reporting and dashboards as well as workflows.
    • Soon, we’ll be diving more into integrations that we’re going to be using, but it’s exciting to get this moving.
    • We’re calling it Pulse, because it’s going to be the lifeblood of the business.
  • Worked with designer on new designs for our upcoming site. We got those all finished and handed over to an html/css guy to get sliced up. Next week, I’ll take that html/css to someone who specializes in coding custom WP themes.
  • I was introduced to an editor of SalesHacker by someone who had contributed content for them in the past. I asked that person how it went and if he could introduce me. Going to try and put some content together for them.
    • Hoping to mirror this approach for sites like Inc, Forbes, Huffington Post, etc.
  • I signed up for Drift Daily alerts to get more info on all of the users that sign up.
    • We get their LinkedIn, Twitter, Business info like company size, domain, etc.
    • It is pretty amazing as you can get it in a daily email or live right into Slack.
    • I have them in both, but the nice thing about Slack is I can easily click through to their LinkedIn profile and add them as a connection.
    • I just implemented this late yesterday, but already had one of the 3 people I added on LinkedIn convert to a paid user.
  • Michael and I got together Thursday to map out our entire launch plan for version 2. It consists of several things:
    • Finish website design
    • Convert html/css of designs into custom WP theme
    • Finalize all UI elements
    • Convert all existing blog post categories into the new categories we’re focusing on
    • Updating all lead magnet and content upgrade designs to better match the new branding
    • Attempt to get some PR. Planning to utilize something like PRX for on demand PR.
    • Create our knowledge base
    • Prepare pre-launch and post launch email sequence. First one going out Monday to tease it. Another 3 days before launch, another on launch, then doing a features/benefit type email 3 days after launch, a few days later doing an FAQ type email
    • Revamp all of our onboarding for software users as well as DFY customers as this will impact both of those things.
    • Creating all new website copy
    • Demo videos for the main site and knowledge base, as well as on the Features page as we plan to highlight specific features with video.
    • There are two other major marketing projects that are in the works. We are going to announce as well when we launch version 2.

Plans:

  • Test the software and start moving our DFY customers to it.
  • Setup my video studio
  • Find a theme to use for our new Knowledge Base
  • Redesign existing lead magnets and content upgrades
  • Get html/css for new website converted into a custom WP theme
  • Try to finalize guest post approvals on Sales Hacker and Huffington Post
  • Send out version 2 teaser email
